Why I want to enter the Art department
I
I am fond of art. It is very difficult to say what art is. It has been differently characterised in every epoch of history. The word art comes from a Latin term meaning "skill, way or method." In ancient times and during the Middle Ages all kinds of trades and professions were known as arts. The liberal arts of the medieval curriculum included music, but neither painting, sculpture, nor architecture, which were numbered among the mechanical arts. Only beginning with the fifteenth century, the term art has taken on as its principle characteristic: the requirement of aesthetic appreciation as distinguished from utility. The word aesthetic arises from a Greek term for "perceive." What is perceived aesthetically is "beauty." The ability to embrace human experience and transmit it to the observer distinguishes the work of art. We admire the works of art without knowing anything of their purpose, standing as we do at a totally different moment of history. There are many works of prehistoric art — like the animals on cave walls and ceiling. We enjoy the works of art that came down to us, the most wonderful are the Seven Wonders of the world, the Old Masters' works, the Impressionists. I what to study the works of art of the outstanding painters, sculptors and architects to understand their power over people.
I want to enter the Art Department because I am fond of art. I studied at art school. There I got my first acquaintance with art. I am fond of different styles of painting and I like architecture too. I am fond of travelling because I want to know more about art of different countries. After visiting Spain where I enjoyed Gaudn's architecture and Salvador Dali's paintings I made up my mind to devote my life to the study of art. I believe that to make a masterpiece is not an easy work. It demands a lot of energy and concentration. Each production calls for detailed thinking. The subject must be clarified in the painter's mind. The conception must be thoroughly considered to recount the story in an impressive way. The composition must be devised so carefully that it should not look laboured, but should flow naturally. The style or manner of painting or drawing must be perfect.
I want to learn more about the variety of styles and the ways of expressing artist's thoughts and feelings. Moreover I want to know more about the artists who created masterpieces so much admired by lots of people.

Art is the creation and expression of everything that is beautiful. It gives pleasure to mind through senses and feelings. It appeals to the heart and mind of man. The lust for beauty and spiritual perfection is in all of us. We learn a lot by seeing the world through other people's eyes. Art is eternal and immortal. Life is short. Art is long. People cannot do without art. Lust for art is the beginning of creativity and creativity is something we need in any job. The person who can appreciate art is the creator himself. Art is the source of information and delight. It helps us understand that the world is full of interesting things. It makes a person better. Art is a means of escape from boredom, sorrow, troubles and grief.
I am fond of the Old Masters' works of art. Their works are great. They are full of charm and inspiration. Artists notice things which, escape our attention. Only after seeing their works of art we begin to understand beauty things.
